Quantum Theory of Matter: A Novel Introduction - Book Review,
by A. Modinos

From Book News, Inc. Takes a novel approach to teaching quantum mechanics to undergraduates, emphasizing the application of quantum theory and a requiring a minimum of mathematics. Chapters and problems on basic concepts, atoms, molecules, and solids stress the interpretation of mathematical formulae, not their derivation. Appendices offer more traditional material on vectors and complex numbers, formal quantum mechanics, and physical constants. Assumes knowledge of calculus and functions of more than one variable. Also useful as a supplementary text for postgraduate course on quantum mechanics. Annotation c. by Book News, Inc., Portland, Or.
Book Description With a minimum of mathematics, this book provides a novel approach to the teaching of quantum mechanics. As many books mainly present the concepts of quantum theory, this volume emphasises the application of the theory, offering the reader a unifying picture of atoms, molecules and solids. Essential for all undergraduate physics courses, it will also be a most valuable supplementary text for postgraduate courses on quantum mechanics.
Book Info Emphasizes the application of the theory, offering the reader a unifying picture of atoms, molecules and solids. Undergraduate text. Paper. DLC: Matter - Constitution.
