And One More Thing...: A Mother's Advice on Life, Love, and Lipstick - Book Reviews,
by Joan Jakobson
And One More Thing...: A Mother's Advice on Life, Love, and Lipstick FROM THE CRITICS Library Journal A freelance writer based in New York City, Jakobson gears her guide to adult daughters, including advice on etiquette, decorating, money, love and children, and other topics in between. Some of her guidance is serious, and some is surely not, but all of it is presented with dry humor. This contemporary Emily Post may remind older readers of the more restrictive guidebooks of the past, but the sophisticated, worldly wisdom imparted here is by no means prudish or outdated. And while some of the rules may seem precious (at least to those of us with little opportunity to attend or host formal seated dinners), Jakobson has a way of poking fun at the rules of "niceness" even as she acknowledges their necessity.
