Franklin the Turtle has had his share of colds and flu, as well as visits to the doctor. But in this story, his shell has cracked and he has to go to the hospital for an operation. Franklin goes through the hospital admission procedure, after hearing his friends and family tell him how brave he is. Franklin holds up well until he gets to the X-ray room. There, he confesses to his doctor that he is afraid his fear will be exposed. The doctor explains what an X-ray can and can't do, and what fear and bravery are all about. The book explains the hospital procedure well and addresses the fears children have about the doctor and hospitals.
