Like its predecessors, the Seventh Edition offers the best in English literature from the classic to the contemporary in a readable, teachable format. Norton Anthology of English Literature, Vol. 2

FROM THE PUBLISHER

The acclaimed Norton Anthology of English Literature, Major Authors Edition is now available in two paperbound volumes. Volume B begins with the writings of William Blake and continues through the Romantic Period, the Victorian Age, through to the Twentieth Century. This new Major Authors edition is a library between two covers—an indispensable addition to the family bookshelf.

SYNOPSIS

This is the new edition of Norton's splendid anthology (the first was published in 1962); previous editions are cited in Books for College Libraries, 3rd ed. It is now packaged with two audio CDs that have on them poems read by the authors themselves, from Tennyson (made on a wax cylinder recording device in the late 1880s) to Heaney and Walcott; passages of Old English and Middle English poems; poems in Scots dialect and poems written in sprung rhythm; and performances of poems set to music.

FROM THE CRITICS

Price - London Review of Books

Monumental without being mausolean, this latest Norton enables readers to engage in what Stephen Greenblatt has elsewhere called "speaking with the dead"—not only the proverbial dead white males, but a good many others.
