Draw 50 Cats: The Steb-By-Step Way to Draw Domestic Breeds, Wild Cats, Cuddly Kittens, and Famous Felines Like Morris the 9 Lives Cat - Book Review,
by Lee J. Ames

From School Library Journal Grade 4 Up Another how-to-draw book by the irrepressible Ames. This time his subject is cats50 of them. He includes all of the best known breeds, several wild kinds, some popular cartoon cats (Top Cat, Felix, Snagglepus, and Morris), and cats in various action poses. Ames uses his stock introductions (seemingly lifted from any one of his other drawing how-to's), and then provides step-by-step procedures. There's nothing new here, as the subject has already been covered in Paul Frame's Drawing Cats and Kittens (Watts, 1979) and Janet Rancan's How to Draw Cats (Troll, 1982). However, these books are heavy circulators, and there's usually room in most collections for one more. Patricia Homer, Lowville Academy, N.Y.Copyright 1987 Reed Business Information, Inc.
