Successfully making the transition to hardcover, bestselling historical romance writer Lindsey has not abandoned the winning formula of her signature paperback bestsellers (Surrender My Love, etc.). This tale, set in 19th-century England and Scotland, is a lighthearted romp full of passion and intrigue. English heiress Kimberly Richards needs a husband fast in order to escape her father's tyranny. While staying with the Duke and Duchess of Wrothston, she meets many suitable candidates, but it is the reckless Lachlan, the Laird of Clan MacGregor, who steals her heart. The two seem ideally suited (financially as well as romantically: Lachlan needs an heiress to save his clan from poverty), but they clash from the first. He thinks she's a shrew with a vicious tongue; she thinks he's an inconsiderate boor. Despite their heated confrontations, the two become lovers and decide to marry-but Kimberly changes her mind when she discovers that Lachlan is obsessed with the duchess. The ensuing battle of wills between the squabbling lovers offers giddy entertainment, until Lachlan is framed for theft; then the duo must set out to catch the real culprit so that they can get married at last. With her latest historical, Lindsey, all of whose previous books made the "New York Times "paperback best-seller lists, breaks into the ranks of hardcover romance authors. Wealthy Lady Kimberly Richards is forced into the marriage market by her domineering father, who trades a favor owed him by the duke of Wrothstone to see Kimberly launched. The duke and duchess of Wrothstone, who previously appeared in Lindsey's "Man of Her Dreams" (1992), reluctantly agree. When Kimberly arrives at the duke's manor, she is exhausted, ill, and in no mood to deal with Lachlan MacGregor, an arrogant, impoverished Scots laird, who is seeking a wife. The duchess invites several eligible young gentlemen and ladies to a house party as prospective mates for the two, but she schemes to throw Kimberly and Lachlan together whenever possible. Kimberly soon decides Lachlan is not suitable husband material, but Lachlan disagrees and sets out to win his reluctant love. A strong marketing campaign to promote past and present Lindsey titles and this enjoyable, entertaining read will surely attract the interest of old and new fans.

This is a romance in the true sense of the genre. Lachlan MacGregor, the head of his clan and temporarily impoverished, travels to England to meet and marry an heiress. Michael Pageᄑs narration is wonderful. He makes all the characters come alive, manipulating emotions with his voice and the pace of the reading. Page creates almost every variation of Scottish and British accent while he helps Lindsey bring the lovers together. Love Me Forever will make you laugh and cry and want to listen until the very end, and yearn for more. Unfortunately, the narration and the tale end too soon, and the listener must go off in search of another story. M.B.K. ᄑAudioFile, Portland, Maine
