FROM THE PUBLISHER
Join the Koala Brothers and their friends on three different adventures in this hardcover storybook collection. In each tale, Frank and Buster are on a mission to help a friend in need. Whether it's welcoming their crocodile neighbor to his new home, teaching a little kangaroo how to jump rope, or making a traveling penguin feel at home, the Koala Brothers show youngsters that even the littlest acts of kindness go a long way.
FROM THE CRITICS
Children's Literature - Jean Boreen, Ph.D.
The Koala brothers, Buster and Frank, provide younger readers with an introduction to the Australian Outback even as they share valuable lessons on friendship, cooperation, and stewardship to others. Using three separate stories, each starring the Koala Brothers, the author introduces us to the positive attributes of the brothers as they interact with both friends and others they are just meeting. The best of the three stories, "The Thirsty Penguin," tells the story of Penny Penguin, a plucky traveler who is lost in the Outback. Buster and Frank Koala, out for a ride in their airplane, realize that they are running of gas, and to add to their dilemma, they, too, are lost. When the three travelers meet, each finds that the others have something that will help the entire group: Penny has a map and the koalas have water. Working together, they manage to resume their individual journeys, and all are better for having helped someone in distress. The pictures in this book are taken from Playhouse Disney segments featuring the Koala Brothers. A fun read with some appropriate kid-friendly messages. 2004, Golden Books/Random House, Ages 5 to 8.
