The Black Unicorn (Magic Kingdom of Landover #2)
- Book Review,
by Terry Brooks

From Library Journal
Dreams of trouble, missing spellbooks, and a black unicorn send Ben Holiday, Landover's newest king, his wizard, Questor, and the sylph, Willow, on three separate quests that converge in a battle for control of their magical kingdom. This sequel to Magic Kingdom for SaleSold! contains the same welcome touches of humor as its predecessor and confirms Brooks's talent for light fantasy. JCCopyright 1987 Reed Business Information, Inc.

From AudioFile
Intrigue. Deception. Magic. THE BLACK UNICORN relies on all of these in this novel of the Magic Kingdom of Landover. Followers of the series and fantasy lovers in general will likely prefer the unabridged version. Although the plot of the abridgment is not hard to follow, it is harder to be fully engaged with it without the rich detail and complexity that Brooks typically provides. Dick Hill is a familiar voice in this genre, who, as usual, is fully engaged and who reads with the conviction that this is a story worth telling. He does a superb job creating vivid characters in a narrative style that is tight and clear. J.E.M. © AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine-- Copyright © AudioFile, Portland, Maine
