Business and Society: Ethics and Stakeholder Management, 5th edition employs a stakeholder management framework, emphasizing business' social and ethical responsibilities to both external and internal stakeholder groups. The text is written from a managerial perspective that along with the twin themes of stakeholders and ethics, shows how to identify stakeholders, incorporate their concerns into the organization's strategy and operations, and also integrate ethical wisdom into their decision making process. In addition, 35 case histories are included to help connect theory and practice through timely and interesting examples.

About the Author
Archie B. Carroll is professor of management and holder of the Robert W. Scherer Chair of Management and Corporate Public Affairs at the University of Georgia. He is also Director of the Nonprofit Management & Community Service Program. He has served on the faculty of the University of Georgia in the Terry College of Business since 1972. Dr. Carroll received his three academic degrees from The Florida State University in Tallahassee. Professor Carroll has published numerous books and articles. His research has appeared in the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Business and Society, Business Ethics Quarterly, Journal of Business Ethics, California Management Review, Sloan Management Review, and many others. His 1981 book, Business & Society: Managing Corporate Social Performance, was chosen in 1984 by the Good Book Guide for Business (from the publishers of the Economist in Great Britain) to be among their Top 20 Books on Strategy and Planning. His teaching, research, and consulting interests are in business and society, business ethics, corporate social performance, and global strategic management. He is serving on the editorial review boards of the Business and Society: The Journal of the International Association for Business and Society (IABS), Business Ethics Quarterly, Journal of Management, and the Journal of Public Affairs. He is former division chair (1976-1977) of the Social Issues in Management (SIM) Division of the Academy of Management and a founding board member of IABS, and he has served on the board of the Southern Management Association. In 1998-1999 he served as President of the Society for Business Ethics. During 1995-2000, Dr. Carroll served as chairman of the Department of Management at the University of Georgia. In 2003, he was awarded the Distinguished Faculty Service Award in the Terry College of Business.
