Comparative Legal Traditions In a Nutshell - Book Reviews,
by Mary Ann Glendon
Comparative Legal Traditions In a Nutshell FROM THE PUBLISHER The purpose of this Nutshell is to provide, in a comparatively brief format, a discussion of several important areas in each of the three major legal traditions of the West; civil, common and socialist. This approach has been undertaken recently by several European writers. Their works, however, have tended to focus on elements of the three legal traditions viewed from the perspective of a civil law scholar. Our attempt, contrastingly, has been to write from the viewpoint of the American trained lawyer, resulting in a concentration on elements of the three traditions notable from the viewpoint of the American lawyer, rather than the European civil law lawyer.
