This catalog of works, organized alphabetically by composer, details the compositions of fifty-four modern British composers born between 1893 and 1923. Volume three covers composers from Elizabeth Maconchy to David Wynne. Compositions are listed chronologically and include pertinent information about the performance, year of composition, music history, first recordings, and original manuscript location. Concert music is listed separately from documentary and feature films and from music composed for radio, television or stage. A selective bibliography and a title index is included for each composer.

This three-volume reference provides information on British composers from 1891 to 1923, including several composers who were still composing as recently as 1999. Entries are arranged alphabetically, and each provides a chronological listing of works including year of composition (and completion, where known); dedicatee; commissioning/funding sources; performance information including duration, instrumentation, and publication data; music history such as first concert, broadcast, premieres (with names of performing artists, groups, orchestras, and conductors); original manuscript location where known; and a selective bibliography. Concert music is listed separately from documentary and/or feature films as well as from other incidental music (for radio, television and stage), with arrangements and various appendices shown last. Each volume contains an alphabetical title index for the composers listed therein. The third volume contains an addendum covering amendments, corrections, and additions to all three volumes.
