Record Time FROM THE PUBLISHER
Kylie Rogers can't stand dull parties and the self-centered men who frequent them. Now that the crashing bore who cornered her has gone to get a drink, there's only one way out-a first-floor window. Too bad her handsome host just happened to see her hike up her skirt, throw a very shapely leg over the windowsill...and fall into a hedge. Being rescued by Gamble Records owner David Gamble may be the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to Kylie. And his impromptu kiss may be the most thrilling...
Music mogul David Gamble figured he'd never again see the beautiful woman he pulled out of his shrubbery, so what was the harm if he kissed her? When he discovers that Kylie is a new employee working for his company, he's shocked-and secretly delighted-even if he can't quite admit it yet. David's orderly world turns upside down with disaster-magnet Kylie spreading chaos and skewed publicity in her wake. But when someone sets out to sabotage Gamble Records, David joins forces with Kylie to catch the culprit as they find themselves falling in love in record time...
Author Biography: Beverly Brandt spent the majority of her teen years scribbling one story after another in the notebooks she carried with her at all times. Even then, she dreamed of becoming a published author, but fate had other plans for her. Her life took a detour through fast food and financial analysis, but she finally returned to her first love-writing. Determined to fulfill her lifelong dream, Beverly completed her first two books and sold them both in record time.
FROM THE CRITICS
Publishers Weekly
A playful blend of romance, humor and light suspense, Brandt's latest contemporary (after True North) pairs control freak David Gamble, head of Gamble records, with the unglamorous and ungainly Kylie Rogers. Different in every way from her petite, blond and incredibly talented sister, Robyn, who records for Gamble Records, Kylie is the odd duck in her family and a disaster magnet, which David learns firsthand. Kylie and David meet and share a passionate kiss at his party when he catches her trying to escape through a window to avoid a man with a runaway mouth. Kylie gives David a false name and then takes off, but she soon finds herself face-to-face with the handsome entrepreneur when Robyn arranges a job for her in the Gamble accounts department. From the moment Kylie is employed, however, small acts of sabotage surface in the company, which leaves David torn between his growing attraction to Kylie and the suspicion that she might be the saboteur. Brandt maintains a delightful balance between control and confusion and pads her story with a cast of well-drawn ancillary characters. A few far-fetched coincidences may give readers pause but, overall, this fun, feel-good romance is the perfect pick-me-up for rainy days. (Oct.) Copyright 2002 Cahners Business Information.
