About the Author
Janet Poland is a writer, poet, and former newspaper editor who has written extensively about families and children for newspapers and magazines.

She graduated from Grinnell College and earned a graduate degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin. Whe worked in state government and in public television before beginning a career in journalism. For more than a decade, she was a reporter, columnist, and editor on the staff of daily newspapers in Pennsylvania, and received numerous journalism awards. More recently, as a freelance journalist, her work has appeared frequently in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

She lives in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, with her husband and two sons.

Judi Craig, Ph.D., has counseled thousands of parents and children in more than twenty-seven years as a clinical psychologist. Readers are delighted with the common-sense approach of her most recent books, Little Kids, Big Questions and Parents on the Spot. Her "Parent Skills" column was featured for eight years in the Sunday San Antonio Light; her new column "Family Matters" appears in Images, a Sunday magazine in the San Antonio Express News. She has also been a consultant to corporations, agencies, schools, and psychiatric hospitals, and recently completed her training as a Master Practitioner in Neurolinguistic Programming. She is a frequent guest on national radio and television. Dr. Craig is the mother of three grown children, and lives in San Antonio, Texas.
