by Sonia G. Austrian (Editor)

From Book News, Inc.
Six contributions from academics discuss some of the major psychoanalytic theories concerning different stages of the human life cycle. These developmental theories provide a baseline against which children and adults can be measured to help determine whether or not intervention by health professionals is needed. In each chapter, the authors focus on the theories they regard as most important for understanding a particular phase of development.Copyright © 2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

Acknowledging that no one theory encompasses all aspects of human development, this volume also warns of the consequences of excluding sexual and racial minorities in developmental research and results.
