SYNOPSIS

In the not-too-distant past, instructors researched a topic, gave a lecture, and then gave a test. In these days of interactive instruction and new educational technology, both of which can change at any moment, preparing instruction must be flexible, comprehensive, and transferable to a variety of media. The authors use flow charts to develop a system for designing interactive instruction. They start with instructional goals; they then work through analyses of content, learners, and contexts; they develop and assess instruments, instruction strategies and materials; and complete the system with evaluation and corrective action. In this sixth edition, the authors include information about new research, add evaluation rubrics and a new case study, list web resources, and expand on new theories, tools, and options.
