In All Likelihood: Statistical Modelling and Inference Using Likelihood SYNOPSIS
Advanced undergrads and beginning grads who have already had applied statistics, probability, theory of statistics, and calculus will be the users of this text, which was developed from courses taught by Pawitan at University College Dublin and his current institution, University College Cork in Ireland. Computing is an essential part of the course; students will need to be familiar with statistic software such as R or Splus. Employing an informal approach, results are established using heuristic arguments and realistic examples. The newer topics in the field are considered, including generalized linear models, generalized linear mixed models, nonparametric smoothing, robustness, IM algorithm and empirical likelihood.
