A Journey to Disillusionment - Book Review,
by Sherbaz Khan Mazari, Shehyar Mazari (Editor)

\ "Pakistani politicians typically write self-serving autobiographies that are short on analysis and big on ego trips. The exception is Sherbaz Mazari's contribution to recording Pakistan's unfortunate political history, which simply is the best autobiography of a Pakistani politician written in the past 50 years...
Herald magazine, Karachi, October 1999 "Mazaris journey is a highly sensitive and perceptive account of a world rent apart by soldiers and politicians ruthlessly vying for their pound of flesh. Refreshingly honest in its assumptions as well as details, a Journey to Disillusionment goes far beyond being Mazaris personalized version of key events that shaped Pakistans history.
The Herald, (Karachi, Pakistan), October 1999 If ever there was a book worth buying, this is it.
The Far Eastern Economic Review, Hong Kong, 13 January 2000 "If there is one book needed to remind the global audience of why Pakistan is in such a mess, A Journey to Dissillusionment is it This book is erudite, urbane and written with a degree of sophistication that is unique in Pakistani political biographies."
The Nation, (Lahore, Pakistan),15 Nov, 1999 Mazaris book is simply the best political autobiography in the last fifty years. It offers a substantial analysis of how and why Pakistan veered between military dictatorship and democratic authoritarianism and gives a stunning insider view of the venal, corrupt and even criminal nature of the countrys political elite.
Book Description Though primarily the memoir of a leading Opposition figure, this book is also, in part, a history of Pakistan. Starting from Mazari's early years in opposition to the Ayub Khan government, and moving through the Bhutto and Zia periods, the book makes interesting revelations about the leading political players and the events of those turbulent times.
