John Bellairs has written another scary thriller starring Rose Rita Pottinger and Mrs. Zimmermann, who last appeared in The Letter, the witch, and the Ring, the third book in The House With a Clock in its Walls trilogy.
John Bellairs's untimely death interrupted a very illustrious writing career. However there are several more books that Mr. Bellairs left that Dial will be publishing. Brad Strickland, a longtime Bellairs fan, will be completing them, just as he did The Ghost in the Mirror. Mr. Strickland is the author of several books, including Dragon's Plunder.

The magical plot is equaled by Guidallﾽs narration. His voice changes fluidly to reflect the characters and the suspense. He depicts the delightful heroines as effectively as the frightening evil characters.
