Children's Literature
Johnny Lion is learning to read. Mother Lion buys him a book to read while she and Father Lion go hunting. They caution him not to leave the house while they are out. The book is about a baby lion that seeks adventure in the world while his parents are hunting. Some of his experiences are exciting and some are scary. How happy he is to be rescued by his parents after a close call with an alligator. Johnny is quite pleased to live the baby lion's adventures vicariously. What a pleasant reunion Johnny has with his parents that evening. They bring him steak and let him stay up late after he recounts the tales in his new book. Sweet, gentle (except for the alligator) illustrations accompany a delightful story, which is perfect for children who are on the road to reading.
