Quivers: A Life
- Book Review,
by Robin Quivers

From Library Journal
Some folks may be turned off by this tape because of Quivers's affiliation with The Howard Stern Show. If so, they'll miss the riveting story of a woman who survived in spite of abuse from both her parents, periodic bouts of depression, and self-doubt. Though Quivers does cover her relationship with Stern, most of the audiobook is devoted to her life outside of radio. There is discussion of the loss of her first love, a foster child she helped her parents to raise and subsequently wanted to adopt; her experience with a cult-like program; her years as a nurse; and how she managed to avoid a life of prostitution. Quivers gives a somewhat emotionless reading, but her detachment tends to draw the listener in. This is a wonderful recording that should find a home in all libraries.?Danna C. Bell-Russel, District of Columbia P.L.Copyright 1995 Reed Business Information, Inc.

From AudioFile
Robin Quivers a "shock-jock," is best known as co-host of Howard Stern's top-rated radio show. Quivers is both warmhearted and approachable as she exposes her most intimate secrets. Because of her radio talk-show experience, Quivers is a natural to narrate her memoirs. B.J.P. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine

FROM THE PUBLISHER

In one of the most no-holds-barred memoirs you're likely to read, Robin Quivers, mystery woman of "The Howard Stern Show," strips off her mask along with her gloves. From Robin's embattled childhood in black Baltimore, through depression and despair to the height of broadcast fame as cohost of America's top-rated radio show, Quivers reveals the full, intimate story of a passionate and often misunderstood personality. Robin's thirteen-year partnership with Howard Stern, "The King of All Media" (including their recent successful attempt to talk a listener out of killing himself), is revealed in hilarious and profoundly personal detail. Much more than a show-biz autobiography, Quivers is a vivid personal chronicle of the black experience and the universal struggle for female self-worth, as well as a rags-to-riches story in the grand tradition. Holding absolutely nothing back, Robin writes with the same warmth, strength, and candor that endear her to millions of fans. Whether she's describing a boxing match, a career crisis, or a love affair gone bad, she strikes a universal chord.
